The term artificial intelligence is defined as follows by the Larousse:

“A set of theories and techniques implemented with a view to producing machines capable of simulating human intelligence. »

As Luc Julia explains in his book, Artificial intelligence does not existwe should therefore rather speak of augmented intelligence, but it would be less trendy, less selling.

The fact is that this simulation of thehuman intelligencewithout which it would simply not exist, can render and already renders signal services, particularly in medicine, for stroke.

One of the major causes of death and disability is stroke, or stroke. It is a real scourge, as the Ministry of Health and Solidarity :

“Each year, 150,000 people have a stroke, more than 110,000 are hospitalized and 30,000 die. This pathology represents the first national cause of acquired disability in adults: more than 500,000 French people live with sequelae. It is also the third leading cause of death in men and the second in women, following cancer and myocardial infarction. »

Any progress in its prevention and diagnosis is therefore welcome. In England, a company, Brainomixan offshoot of the University of Oxford, has developed software to this.

This software e-Stroke allows, from the examination of images of the brain (scanner), to ever more patients to benefit from the right treatment, in the right place and at the right time.

The UK Department of Health – there are 85,000 strokes per year in England – made two encouraging announcements regarding the use of this software in the United Kingdom on December 27, 2022:

– the reduction in the average time for interpreting brain images from 140 minutes to 79 minutes, the speed of intervention being the determining factor in avoiding or reducing the sequelae;

– the increase, for 111,000 patients with stroke symptoms (balance disorders, intense headaches, decreased vision), in the rate of mildness or nullity of the disability, from 16% to 48%.

In France, the company AI-Stroke located in Pérols in the Hérault, registered on January 1, 2022, should, during the year 2023, that is to say tomorrow, provide its solution to this pathology.

What is designated by the term artificial intelligence is therefore a reason for hope for men, no offense to all those who oppose technical progress by ideology or who decry all humanism.
