ABU DHABI, 29th December, 2019 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Cycling Club will launch, on January 13, a project to develop and secure a cycling track in the Al Bateen area of Al Ain, which is 23 kilometers long, at a total cost of 8 million dirhams.
The project comes within the efforts of the concerned authorities in Abu Dhabi to promote a healthy lifestyle for all members of society in the UAE.
Al-Nakhira Al-Khaili, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club, explained that preparations are currently underway to complete the project according to the specified timetable, in order to contribute to the growth and development process in the UAE by focusing on aspects related to improving the quality of life, and motivating community members to adopt a lifestyle. Healthy and energetic.
He pointed out that the project is one of the important achievements of the city of Al Ain in the areas of urban and urban development and infrastructure development.
He added that the project represents a successful and strong beginning for the year 2023, and translates the directives of the wise leadership, with the need to implement ambitious projects and launch distinctive initiatives, by providing places that contribute to encouraging residents to practice sports in general and the hobby of cycling in particular, taking into account that the infrastructure is in residential areas. Adjacent to the track encourages and facilitates the access of residents to practice this sport because of its many health benefits.
He stressed that the municipality of Al Ain, which is concerned with the implementation of the project, took into account, when implementing the operations of modifying and correcting the tracks, applying the best international standards and technical specifications, in line with the nature of the areas covered by the tracks and their traffic, in addition to providing all means of security and safety for bicycle users.
He pointed out that the tracks were equipped with falcon-eye cameras and surveillance cameras that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Al-Nakhira Al-Khaili said: The project to develop the bicycle path in Al-Ain is a qualitative addition to the package of infrastructure projects implemented by the Abu Dhabi government, to encourage sports and recreational activities to improve the quality of life in the emirate, and to facilitate access between development projects and attractions.
He added that the track serves many vital areas extending on Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Street in Al Ain, including Al Bateen, Al Khabisi, Al Markhaniya, Al Tawiya, Al Jimi, Al Dahmaa and Al Salamat, and the public can benefit from the package of other service facilities that the club is working to provide during the coming period.
Al-Khaili explained that the project is part of a comprehensive plan approved by the concerned authorities and the Department of Municipalities and Transport to develop bicycle paths, and aims to connect all vital areas in the city, with an integrated system of bicycle paths that meet the needs of all practitioners of this sport.
