SHARJAH, 29th December, WAM / The Emirates Association for Management and the Argentine Center for Management, Cadra, signed an agreement to enhance cooperation in the field of copyright protection and the creative rights of authors, writers and publishers, and to create more opportunities for interest in copyright in support of creative business owners and in appreciation of literary and intellectual values. .
The agreement – which was signed by Dr. Al Yazia Khalifa, President of the Emirates Association for Management, and Luis Quevedo, President of the Argentine Association for Management (Cada) – included mechanisms for cooperation between the two sides, so that each party would be an agent for the other in granting a license to the rights of writers and member publishers to use them to enhance the cultural exchange of content. Creativity in the UAE and Argentina by owning the rights to copy books, literature and publications, which contributes to the prosperity of the creative economy and support the cultural stock of the two countries.
Dr. Al-Yazia Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Society for Management, confirmed that the agreement primarily seeks to lay the foundations for exchanging a cultural stock that enriches the Emirati library in exchange for exporting Emirati creative works and introducing them to Argentina, as signing it comes within the initiatives and activities of the Society that aim to introduce its working mechanisms. Building bridges to communicate with international organizations working in the field of copyright management and introducing the scope of the association’s work among rights holders and content producers from authors and publishers in creative communities around the world.
She added: We are working through the association and its partners to build a creative community made up of utilitarian associations and collective management organizations for rights, which help support the cultural milieu and improve creative and knowledge production by creating an advanced environment that works to protect the rights of creators of writers and publishers and ensures that they benefit from copying their content because the only and direct way To activate intellectual property rights, it is to grant content producers rights in return for the use and copying of their works.
It is noteworthy that the Emirates Society for Management is the first institution of its kind in the UAE and the region that operates with a collective management system to preserve the copyrights of authors and publishers in implementation of the laws protecting intellectual property rights and operates with an elaborate mechanism to protect documented works and protect the rights of their owners and publishers.
The association performs its work by acting as a mediator on behalf of the authors and publishers members to ensure the rights to copy their works. The association’s work includes supervising the use of works by beneficiaries who have obtained the association’s licenses from schools, universities, copying centers and public libraries in cooperation with the concerned government agencies.
The Center for Management (CADRA) is a civil, non-profit association that collectively protects and manages copyright in Argentina and is made up of Argentine and foreign authors and publishers that focus on the protection of rights in the publishing sector and provide users with access to texts for legal use and sharing.
