A member of the Syndicate of Station Owners, George Al-Barakis, announced that following the confusion that occurred yesterday as a result of the circular of the Governor of the Banque du Liban, which the banks were unable to implement, we will return to the previously approved mechanism for providing citizens with fuel, i.e. the exchange rate of the dollar is calculated according to its price with the money changers.
Al-Barax confirmed, in an interview with the Voice of All Lebanon, that a new table for fuel prices will be issued today, and in the event that the dollar is approved at 44 thousand pounds, the price of the gasoline plate will be regarding 705 thousand pounds, adding: “The fuel sector is basically excluded from an exchange platform, so why was it included in this confusion ?”
Al-Barax considered that if the Banque du Liban wants to reduce fuel prices and has dollars, let it return to the policy of supporting the sector, as it did in an earlier stage.
