van Aert wins on the night of Diegem after a magnificent fight with van der Poel and Pidcock

In a nocturnal version of the Diegem cyclo-cross, sixth round of the Superprestige, van Aert, van der Poel and Pidcock fought a magnificent fight which turned to the advantage of the Belgian champion. van der Poel and van Aert took turns attacking and it was the Belgian champion who finally won.

Threesomes Pidcock, from Aert, van der Poel makes a very good start and is already wheel to wheel while Vanthourenhout chute. Iserbyt is the only one able to cling a few meters behind and fights to get back together.

It was on the second lap that Mathieu van der Poel made the difference. He is the only one able to stay on his bike in a passage in the sand.

Mathieu van der Poel is in good shape this Wednesday evening and drops Pidcock and van Aert once more on the fourth lap.

The Dutchman is boosted and widens the gap while van Aert has to dismount once more in the sandy part of the circuit. Pidcock took the opportunity to take a few seconds ahead of the Belgian champion.

But van Aert does not abdicate and returns to the Briton. The duo made up of the world champion and the Belgian champion even caught up with van der Poel a few hundred meters further on, in the sixth lap.

Wout van Aert then accelerated in the sand and took the lead of the race for the first time of the evening when starting the seventh and penultimate lap. van der Poel and Pidcock work together and take turns in the wheel of the Belgian champion.

Pidcock accelerates directly and if van Aert jumps directly into his wheel, van der Poel leaves a few tens of meters and clocks in at 10 seconds at the start of the last lap. The Dutchman is beaten and the victory will be decided between Pidcock and van Aert.

The Briton makes a small mistake approaching the final corner. van Aert took the opportunity to race alone towards the finish line and win. Pidcock finished second at six seconds, van der Poel was third at 33 seconds.

The Belgian champion offers his fourth victory in six outings in the plowed and puts an end to a series of six consecutive victories by van der Poel on the Diegem cross.
