As reported by the Spanish magazine Hola on Wednesday, both have put an end to eight years in which they have monopolized the covers of gossip magazines.

It was also in Hola, in 2015, where Preysler (born in the Philippines, 1951) and Vargas Llosa (Peru, 1936) confirmed their sentimental relationship.

“Mario and I have decided to end our relationship definitively (…) I do not want to give any further statement and I thank friends and the media for helping us in this decision,” Preysler says in the publication.

Throughout these years both have starred in many moments both in social events and related to the writer’s activity.

In 2020, during the celebration of the tenth anniversary of his Nobel Prize, he recounted that his new partner had renewed in him his vocation as a writer, the best thing that – he said – had happened to him in his life.

As Preysler also clarifies in Hola, the reason for this separation they have not been third partiesbut both have lost, “little by little, the illusion of the beginning”.

The relationship between Vargas Llosa, 79, and Preysler, 64, became known in June 2015. Shortly following, the author of “The City and the Dogs” confirmed his separation from his wife, Patricia, with whom he had been with for 50 years married. Preysler had been widowed a year earlier when her husband, former Spanish Economy Minister Miguel Boyer, died.

In an interview with Hola! magazine, Isabel Preysler stated at the time that “we are very sure of what we have done” and that “it is true that we have become inseparable and we don’t want to lose a minute”.

He also recounted what life was like together at the beginning of the relationship: he said that they spent a “wonderful” summer, in which they talked “a lot” and were “very happy”.
