Bad weather leaves more than 60 dead in the United States

The situation in the United States is getting worse and the number of deaths continues to rise. Police, including military, were dispatched to Buffalo entry points to prevent motor vehicle traffic in New York State’s second most populous city. This is already considered the deadliest storm in the western region of that state, in at least two generations.

Yesterday, President Joe Biden declared a state of emergency and offered his administration’s help.

Local authorities said that too many people are ignoring the restrictions. Erie County Mayor Mark Poloncarz “begs people to stay at home and explains that there are blocked roads, which no one has access to, and that it is not worth trying to access these places”.

In Buffalo, people died in cars and houses while shoveling snow. Field teams were unable to respond in time to all emergencies.

This Tuesday, thousands of domestic and international flights were canceled in various regions of the country.

Another issue that worries the authorities is the fact that weather forecasts point to an increase in temperatures next weekend. In this scenario, there is a risk of flooding because of melting snow that has accumulated for three days.
