Xiaomi has unveiled, in China, its new Redmi Watch 3 watch and its Redmi Band 2 bracelet, two connected trackers offered at a price of less than 70 euros excluding tax.
This Tuesday, on the occasion of the launch in China of its new Redmi K60, Redmi K60 Pro et Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed EditionXiaomi also unveiled two new wrist-worn devices : the watch Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 et le bracelet Xiaomi Redmi Band 2. As often with the manufacturer’s Redmi range, these two models are distinguished by a particularly attractive price.
A GPS watch with Oled screen for less than 70 euros
On the side of the connected watch Redmi Watch 3, we find without surprise a design quite close to that of the Redmi Watch 2 launched in China in October 2021. The digital toquante thus integrates a square screen of 1.75 inches diagonally with a definition of 390 x 450 pixels for a density of 341 pixels per inch. As on last year’s model, Xiaomi has not sacrificed screen technology on the altar of price since the Redmi Watch 3 benefits from an Amoled panel with a refresh rate of 60 Hz.
Logically, we will find many dials offered with “over 200» models announced by Xiaomi. The on-board operating system is not Wear OS, however, but most likely RTOSalready used by the manufacturer on some of its more high-end watches, such as the Xiaomi Watch S1. In addition, the Redmi Watch 3 allows calls to be answered directly on the wrist using an on-board speaker and microphone. Xiaomi’s watch also incorporates an NFC chip used in China for contactless payment.
On the side of health features either, Xiaomi has not gone too far. The Redmi Watch 3 not only allows you to count the number of steps or measure the heart rate, but also incorporates a measurement of the blood oxygen saturation and even a GNSS geolocation chip compatible with GPS, Galileo, Beidou, Glonass and QZSS. The watch is additionally advertised as 5 ATM certified and can therefore be used for shallow water swimming. There is also a sleep monitoring.
Regarding the battery, Xiaomi has integrated a 289 mAh accumulator allowing, on paper, an autonomy of 12 days in classic use, 7 days in intense use and 18 hours with GPS tracking.
The Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 is currently only announced in China where it is available in two colors – black or white – at a price of 499 yuan, or 67 euros excluding tax.
A connected bracelet at a bargain price
For its part, the Xiaomi Redmi Band 2 succeeds the premier Redmi Band launched more than two and a half years ago in China in April 2020. It is logically a smart bracelet taking up the design of the Xiaomi’s Smart Band range with a detachable sensor that has a rectangular screen. Here, the TFT LCD screen displays a definition of 172 x 320 pixels for a diagonal of 1.47 inches, or a density of 247 pixels per inch. The bracelet is available with more than a hundred dials to download and logically allows you to measure different health data such as heart rate, number of steps or the monitoring of more than 30 sports activities. The measurement of oxygen saturation in the blood is also included, but not GPS tracking.
We will also find a 5 ATM certification allowing the bracelet to be worn without fear at shallow depths, in a swimming pool for example. The 210 mAh battery will allow up to 14 days of use in conventional use.
The Xiaomi Redmi Band 2 is announced for now only in China. It is available there for 159 yuan, or 21 euros excluding tax.
For now, Xiaomi has not announced any availability in Europe for its new Redmi Watch 3 watch or its new Redmi Band 2 bracelet.
