The Unification Observatory in Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, the northernmost part of the East Coast, has been temporarily closed amid a series of provocations involving North Korean drones crossing the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) and invading our airspace.
The Goseong Unification Observatory announced that it was temporarily closed on the 27th due to North Korea’s drone provocation. The suspension of the Goseong Unification Observatory is the second time since North Korea’s ballistic missile and shelling provocations in the East Sea last month.
The observatory plans to monitor the situation of North Korea’s provocations and then determine and announce the operation time later.

Regarding the invasion of North Korean drones, Gangwon-do, which is a divided island between the two Koreas and faces the armistice line, also issued a statement condemning it.
Gangwon-do, in the name of the spokesperson’s office, said, “North Korea has launched 40 ballistic missiles and 3 cruise missiles this year alone. It is a serious provocation that threatens the lives and property of Gangwon-do residents who occupy most of the region.”
“We urge North Korea to immediately stop all military threats, including missile provocations and military drones, and actively strive for reconciliation and cooperation on the Korean Peninsula, and once once more strongly condemn North Korea’s reckless military provocations,” he expressed regret.
North Korean drones that crossed the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) starting at 10:25 a.m. on the 26th, while the military hesitated to shoot them down, flew over Ganghwa-do, northern Gyeonggi-do, and northern Seoul for regarding five hours, and one returned safely. . The next day, around 2:57 pm on the same day, an aircraft presumed to be an unmanned aerial vehicle was observed around Seongmodo Island in Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, and the local government sent a disaster text message asking for safety.
