As of today, the mandatory use of face masks returns in San Luis Potosí

Due to the increase in covid cases, the State Committee for Health Safety determined as a temporary measure that, as of this Monday, December 26, the use of face masks will return mandatory in open and closed spaces.

Daniel Acosta Díaz de León, head of the Ministry of Health in the entity, reported in a conference this Monday 154 new cases of covid, most of them in the capital. In addition to the fact that there are 22 people hospitalized, no one requires assisted ventilation so far.

The head of the agency pointed out that this Monday San Luis Potosí celebrates 5 days with more than 100 new cases of covid and with more than 20 people hospitalized for this disease. He also indicated that the request for medical care has increased due to the coexistence of covid with other respiratory diseases.

He indicated that it is a priority that people who present symptoms of respiratory disease should go for a medical check-up to rule out covid or some other serious illness.

“In San Luis we do not want to have people who cannot find oxygen tanks or find a place in saturated hospitals because they were unaware that they had covid, until the symptoms worsened.”

He pointed out that the capacities have not been modified but asked businesses for support to maintain sanitary measures such as hand washing, avoiding crowds and healthy distance.
