Seoul’s ‘minus 9 degrees’ cold continues… Gwanghwamun at this time

◀ Anchor ▶

The weather is so cold that the Han River freezes 16 days earlier than normal.

The morning temperature in Seoul dropped to minus 9 degrees.

A reporter is out in Gwanghwamun, Seoul.

Reporter Kim Min-hyung, isn’t it very cold?

◀ Reporter ▶

Yes, it is in Gwanghwamun.

If you don’t wear gloves, your fingertips get very cold, and the cold wind penetrates your coat even if you wrap a scarf around it.

Office workers on their way to work in the morning were also wearing thick coats, gloves and scarves, and hurried their steps.

The lowest temperature this morning recorded minus 17 degrees to 0 degrees nationwide, including minus 9 degrees in Seoul.

Currently, a cold wave warning has been issued in most areas of the country except for Incheon, the southern region, and Jeju Island.

In some areas, such as Siheung and Paju in Gyeonggi-do, the morning feeling temperature is below -15 degrees Celsius, and in Gangwon-do Daegwallyeong, Pyeongchang, Yeongwol, and Taebaek, the feeling temperature is expected to be around -20 degrees Celsius.

During the day, the whole country is expected to see a large daily temperature difference, rising from minus 1 degree to 9 degrees.

It seems like it’s cold every day these days. When will the weather clear up?

◀ Reporter ▶

Yes, the daytime temperature is rising little by little, but the Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that this week’s temperature will be lower than normal.

Tomorrow (27), the cold is expected to continue in many areas where the lowest temperature in the morning is between -10 and -15 degrees.

The day following tomorrow (28), the minimum temperature in the morning rose, and as cold air from the north came down once more to the south, the daytime temperature was predicted to be 3 to 5 degrees lower than tomorrow.

The day following tomorrow (28), there is also news of snow.

The Meteorological Administration predicted that it would snow in the metropolitan area, Gangwon-do, and some areas in Chungcheong in the morning, and snow in the west coast of Chungcheongnam-do from late followingnoon and the west coast of Jeolla following 9:00 pm.

With the cold wave continuing every day, the Korea Meteorological Administration requested that water meters and water pipes be checked and prepared for freezing.

As snow has recently fallen in most areas of the country, the snow that melted during the day can freeze once more overnight and the roads can be slippery, so you should pay attention to traffic safety on your way to work.

Until now, I have been told in Gwanghwamun.
