Lions in danger in Algeria?
Between Fecafoot and its Algerian counterpart, the current no longer seems to pass. We have to go back to March 2022 to understand the origin of the problem.
Vincent Aboubakar’s teammates had qualified for the final phase of the 2022 World Cup following a Hitchcock match in Algeria (1-2). Frustrated by the defeat of the Fennecs, part of the Algerian supporters cried foul because of the arbitration.
Several decisions by Gambian referee Bakary Gassama were not unanimous among El Khadra fans. The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has filed an appeal with Fifa in this regard. The international body studied the file and rejected the complaint of the Algerians.
During the final phase of the 2022 World Cup, another episode set fire to the powder. The first head of Cameroonian football, Samuel Eto’o, attacked an Algerian fan who was questioning him regarding this famous play-off match.
Fearing reprisals, Fecafoot is said to be preparing a withdrawal from the 2022 African Nations Football Championship which will take place from January 13 to February 4 in Algeria.
