The incident may have started because of an electronic device and is being investigated, CNN reports.
“JetBlue Flight 662 from Bridgetown, Barbados was evacuated shortly following landing at JFK Airport in New York City due to reports of a faulty customer electronic device or battery,” said JetBlue spokesman Derek Dombrowski.
A total of 167 people were evacuated using emergency slides, the New York Fire Department said.
Five passengers were slightly injured.
“Safety is always our number one priority,” the spokesperson added.
