Bloomberg — China’s military said it has conducted military exercises around Taiwan in response to an increasing level of “collusion and provocation” from Taipei and the US. This following Washington authorized a higher level of military assistance to the island.
The People’s Liberation Army conducted combat readiness patrols and drills around Taiwan on Sunday, according to a statement from the Eastern Theater Command.
The army will take “all necessary measures to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” it said.
The Chinese Defense Ministry has criticized the US National Defense Authorization Act, which authorizes arms sales to Taiwan worth up to $10 billion. He says that increasing the Chinese threat and interfering in their internal affairs.
The Chinese military urged the United States to abandon a zero-sum mentality and respect China’s major interests and concerns.
