Brazil’s outgoing national soccer coach Tite is said to have been attacked in Rio de Janeiro, according to a report by the O Globo portal. A necklace had already been taken from the 61-year-old by the perpetrator during a morning walk last week. The man also allegedly insulted Tite because of Brazil’s World Cup exit in Qatar, which other sources have not confirmed.
The stranger is said to have passed Tite on his bike when he was walking with his wife. Meanwhile, the civilian police announced that the victim had not previously reported an incident, as reported by the sports newspaper “Lance”.
Brazil lost to Croatia on penalties in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar. Even before the World Cup, Tite had declared that he would not renew his contract, which expired at the end of the year. Tite has coached Brazil since June 2016, suffering just six defeats in 81 games with the Selecao. But he also failed with the team in the quarterfinals at the 2018 World Cup, and he won the only title in 2019 at the Copa America.
