The goal scored by Brazilian Richarlison from a scissor once morest Serbia in the first match of the two teams in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup won the award for the most beautiful goal in the tournament, according to what was announced by the International Federation of Football Associations.
Richarlison won this award thanks to the public vote, ahead of nine other nominated goals.
After a cross from Vinicius Jr. on the outside of his right foot, Richarlison controlled the ball with his left foot, before turning around to launch it with an acrobatic backhand with the right into the Serbian net, scoring his second personal goal in the match that ended with a 2-0 victory for “Seleção”.
This goal prompted one of the commentators to say, “This is Brazil,” and made everyone believe that coach Tite’s men would ignite the finals with their technique, football magic and improvisation, but, despite some charming moments, they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Croatia on penalties.
