Shreyas Iyer and Ashwin slay Bangladesh; India win the Dhaka Test

Dhaka: At the start of the final day’s play, India, who had six wickets in hand, were 100 runs away from victory. India started the game at four for 45 and lost three wickets while adding 29 runs. When Unadkat, Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel were out, it looked like they would lose in front of Bangladesh at 74 for seven, but the combination of Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin gave India the win and the series (2-0).

Iyer-Ashwin scored 71 runs in an unbroken eighth wicket partnership. Ashwin (42) scored runs while Shreyas Iyer scored 29 runs. Mominul Haq, who was fielding Ashwin’s catch forward shot at leg following scoring one run, was decisive in the outcome of the match.

Night watchman Jayadev Unadkat (13) was the first to be dismissed on the final day. Shakib Al Hasan was trapped in front of the wicket. Rishabh Pant (9) and Axar Patel (34) were also dismissed. India lost the wickets of Shubman Gill (7), KL Rahul (2), Cheteshwar Pujara (6) and Virat Kohli (1) on the fourth day. Mehdi Hasan took five wickets for Bangladesh.
