The Rector of the UANLSantos Guzmán López, witnessed the swearing in of Dr. Óscar Vidal Gutiérrez as the new director of the School of Medicine and of the University Hospital for the 2022-2025 period, replacing doctor Edelmiro Pérez Rodríguez.
Guzmán López commented that Vidal Gutiérrez has the powers to make the entire university community feel proud of the work provided by the University Hospital and the training of doctors provided by the Faculty of Medicine.
The Faculty and the University Hospital have always distinguished themselves by their commitment to quality, continuous improvement and their great capacity to develop and adapt to the dynamics of their environment. And we are sure that, under the direction of Vidal Gutiérrez, it will continue to be recognized for its educational quality at a national and international level”.
He added that the investigations of both institutions have a high impact on society and that the new development plan proposed by Vidal Gutiérrez, being aligned with the UANL Vision 2030, seeks to give greater solidity to the work carried out.
“Assumes the commitment and responsibility to lead this unit on better academic and administrative paths with strict adherence to the legal framework of the UANL. I am sure that he will honor this community with his experience, ability, and leadership, and that he will also promote teamwork to keep us as one of the best medical schools in the country,” said Santos Guzmán.

In his presentation, the medical doctor Óscar Vidal Gutiérrez assured that he will work driven by the university community, with the support of the team of teachers, students and all the staff who have maintained the mystique of service of the University Hospital in almost two hundred years of its existence.

He also maintained that, thanks to the transformations in his investigations, the University Hospital is innovation leader at the national level and that school-hospital pairing, unique in Mexicomakes them a pillar of growth in Nuevo León and Mexico.
Óscar Vidal Gutiérrez, also a graduate of the law degree from UANL, announced that his management will be governed by five axis with which it intends to maintain the highest educational and organizational quality of the Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital.

Santos Guzmán López recognized the work of the outgoing director, Edelmiro Pérez Rodríguez, and thanked him for his work for the benefit of the university community, Monterrey society, and the national community.
Likewise, the community of the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital recognized the work of the doctor with two recognitions.
The first was granted by the teaching and administrative staff of the faculty and the University Hospital in the hands of the counselor Professor Homero Náñez Terreros, while the second, granted on behalf of the students, was delivered by the president of the student society, Salma Arely Ruiz de la Cruz.
The ceremony was held in the Multipurpose Room of the Faculty of Medicine, where emeritus professors, former UANL rectors and former directors of the University Hospital, as well as teachers, students, administrative staff, mayors and deputies of Nuevo León gathered.
