Nationwide mock drill on December 27; Central instructions to states, covid spread, covid mock drills

New Delhi: In view of the increasing number of Covid cases in various countries, the Union Health Ministry has instructed the states to conduct mock drills in health centers across India. The mock drill will be held on December 27. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said in a letter sent to the state health secretaries that the results should be uploaded that evening.

The mock drill is being conducted to prepare the health centers of all states to deal with the situation in case of an increase in Covid cases. This will ensure the facilities of all health centers district wise. The center has also directed that the health department employees should be under the supervision of the district collectors and not conduct the mock drill.

It will check the availability of total isolation wards, ICU and ventilator facilities in each state. Ensure necessary doctors, nurses and other health workers to deal with covid friendliness, covid test centers, medicines, masks and PPE. The mock drill also aims to ensure availability of kits and medical oxygen.
