In order to encourage digital transformation in Morocco through effective support for the startup ecosystem, Huawei Morocco organized the national competition for the 1st edition of the Spark program. This event, which was held in Rabat, was closed with a prize-giving ceremony, in the presence of several personalities.
Competing for the annual Spark program, eight talented national start-ups, operating in the field of new technologies, took part in this major event. At the end of the competition, a jury, made up of experts, designated the three champions of this edition.
Sobrus tops the list
The first prize was won by the startup Sobrus, the second award went to Weego and the third distinction was awarded to Agenz. The winners will receive, respectively, the sum of 15,000 dollars (1st prize), 10,000 dollars (2nd prize) and 5,000 dollars (3rd prize). In addition to financial support, the Spark program includes support consisting of various trainings, the provision of necessary resources, GTM (Go-to-market) support ensuring eventual access to markets where Huawei is present, as well as mentoring with, including Huawei experts and other industry veterans. Saad Jittou, founder of the public transport application, Weego, said that it aims to aggregate all public transport to provide information on bus, train and tram schedules and also to give the possibility of carrying out payments, directly from the application.
For his part, Malik Belkeziz, co-founder and CEO of Agenz, explained that it is a site allowing each Moroccan to estimate his house online for free (for purchase or sale) in two minutes, to get in touch with real estate agencies and find all the real estate information. “The competition for the first edition of the Spark program in Morocco was rich in creativity and competitiveness,” said Faustin Xu, CEO of Huawei Morocco. Moroccan talents are there! Recognizing the need to act as an industry leader in ICT, Huawei has implemented a series of programs, including Spark, which pays particular attention to young startups to help them reach their full potential, because they are the drivers of digital transformation. With this initiative, Huawei reiterates its commitment to nurture digital talent across the country!”
A program to accelerate the growth of startups
Developed by Huawei Cloud, and supported by the Moroccan government, as well as by several Huawei partners (such as Technopark, AUSIM, MAScIR, Orange, ADD, MNF or even SMIT), the Moroccan edition of this leading international program is entirely dedicated to national startups that operate in the field of new technologies (AI, Connectivity, Cloud, …). The Spark program helps companies to stimulate their sense of innovation, but also to promote their products and services so as to strengthen their competitiveness and accelerate their growth, while taking advantage of business opportunities in the Huawei Cloud ecosystem. It is open to all national technology startups who wish to push their limits, realize their dreams and reach their full growth potential. It should be recalled that the Huawei Spark program was initiated in Morocco last July, during the Digitech ecosystem summit 2022. It testifies, more than ever, to the tenor of Huawei’s commitment to help Morocco transform into a real “African Digital Hub” and to develop a nationwide talent ecosystem.
