National News Agency – A suffocating water crisis in the town of Al-Duwair, and the people demand a solution

NNA – The town of Al-Duwair suffers from a suffocating water crisis, which prompted citizens to buy their needs from it in the winter season, causing them to incur additional financial burdens in light of the stifling economic crisis.

The people appealed to the Director General of the South Lebanon Water Authority to intervene directly to solve this suffering, which intensifies in the spring and summer seasons due to poor distribution and favoritism applied by those in charge of the mission, pointing out that “Duwair has two artesian wells and is fed from the wells of Tuffaha and Fakhreddine, which are almost sufficient quantities, that A well-thought-out distribution was found, and nepotism disappeared, but our suffering continues and intensifies during the rainy and winter seasons, and we pay the price of a single transport of water 800,000 Lebanese pounds to secure our needs.”

They pointed out that “what exacerbated the suffering during this period was that the employees of the Nabatiyeh Water Department, who were entrusted with distributing water in the town, refused to complete their tasks and ignored the decisions of the concerned administration under the pretext of their permanent clash with the people, due to nepotism in distribution.”

And the people added: “The sky is raining and overflowing with its blessings, and people buy water. How can we hope for good in any great solutions, while we buy water for our homes in the rain.”
