Samsung is reportedly ending its A70 line of smartphones

Samsung is sorting through its catalog. At least that’s what the rumor says that the Galaxy A74 will never see the light of day.

A delicate end to the year in the world of smartphone. As we reported yesterday that Apple might do without its iPhone SE in the future, a new rumor believes that Samsung will not renew its Galaxy A70s.

A tight range

The rumour, shared by the specialized site GSM Arenastarts from the observation that if the future Galaxy A54 from Samsung has already leaked in large widths, no detail, not even minimal, is yet known from the A74.

Indeed, while the A73 currently represents the top of Samsung’s mid-range food chain, it appears that the A54 will fill that role now. The latter is expected with a 120 Hz AMOLED screen, a 50 megapixel main camera and a 5,100 mAh battery.

Among the reasons that would push Samsung to tighten its range of devices, we can obviously retain the complex geopolitical context and the rising inflation which weighs heavily on consumers, but also on manufacturing costs. Also, the Galaxy A50 has been among the annual bestsellers for several years now. It’s just possible that the A70 range may not meet the targets set by Samsung and pay for its poor performance.

No news of an upcoming Galaxy FE

In the same vein, GSM Arena reports that there are no rumors regarding a possible Galaxy S22 FE or Galaxy S23 FE either. Much more affordable than flagships Galaxy S, this “Fan Edition” range was able to seduce with a first iteration with an interesting quality ratio. Unfortunately, the Galaxy S21 FE had blown hot and cold by positioning itself at a much less attractive price; too close to the standard Galaxy S21.

Thus, it is quite possible that Samsung will also decide to do without this range in the future, which can be qualified as supernumerary in an already very thick catalog.

This is not the first time that the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer has decided to sort out its offer. The most telling example is of course the absence of new Galaxy Notewhich however took on a new form with a Galaxy S22 Ultra who is clearly the heir.
