Japanese actress Chika Takami died of ovarian cancer at the age of 60. According to Gao Jian Zhijia’s relatives and friends, Gao Jian Zhijia was found to have cancer at first because of abdominal pain and went to the doctor, and the cancer cells had spread to the whole body. In fact, Gao Jianzhijia’s time from being diagnosed with ovarian cancer to his death was very short, only regarding one month. According to the doctor, “ovarian cancer” is often compared to “the most terrifying invisible killer among gynecological cancers”, and the six ethnic groups are the most dangerous.

Zhijia Takami debuted as an idol singer in 1978. He has served as an actor and host, and his distinctive personality has won the love of many audiences. In July this year, she ran for the Senate as a non-party member, but unfortunately she lost the election. Early stages of ovarian cancer are almost asymptomatic

Shen Yanjun, Chief Physician of Beitou Health Management Hospital, said that ovarian cancer is often compared to “the most terrifying invisible killer among gynecological cancers”, and it often comes suddenly and is discovered too late. Because the ovary is located deep in the pelvic cavity and its volume is small, the tumor is not easy to be detected in the early stage of formation, and it is almost asymptomatic in the early stage, so it is often ignored.

According to statistics, regarding 75% of patients with ovarian cancer are found to be above the third stage. Shen Yanjun explained that even if there are symptoms, it is easy to cause bloating, flatulence, nausea, easy feeling of fullness, hiccups, frequent urination, lower abdominal pain or sudden enlargement of the lower abdomen due to the compression of the tumor or the peeling off of cancer cells, etc. It was mistaken for gastrointestinal or urinary tract-related diseases, “but at this time, the stage of ovarian cancer may have developed to the third or fourth stage.”

There is a huge gap between the early prognosis of ovarian cancer and the survival rate in the middle and late stages. The five-year survival rate of the first-stage ovarian cancer can reach 90%, and the five-year survival rate of the second-stage cancer has spread to the pelvis and other organs is regarding 70%. The survival rate of the third stage dropped sharply to 39%. By the fourth stage, the cancer may have metastasized to the liver, lung, peritoneum or bone, and the five-year survival rate was only 17%.

Six Risk Groups for Ovarian Cancer

1. Women who have given birth following the age of 35, have never been pregnant or are infertile

Affected by hormones and ovulation factors, it may increase the risk of ovarian cancer.

2. Women with early menstruation (before 12 years old) or late menopause (following 55 years old)

Groups with too early menstruation or too late menopause have longer ovary activity and more ovulation times than ordinary people, which will also increase the risk of ovarian cancer.

3. Family History

If the family (mother, sister) has a history of breast cancer or ovarian cancer, the risk of ovarian cancer will also increase. The probability of ovarian cancer in general women is regarding 1.4%, and the probability rises to 3 to 5% for those with a family history.

4. Obesity

Women with a BMI > 30. Especially for those who like to eat high-fat food, when the body fat accumulates excessively, it is easy to induce breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

5. Hormone supplementation following menopause

Long-term supplementation of excessive hormone supplement doses, estrogen overstimulation will also increase the risk relatively.

6. Patients with endometrioma (chocolate cyst)

Women with endometriosis causing ectopic tumors have 2 to 3 times the risk of developing ovarian cancer than women in general.

Shen Yanjun suggested that women over the age of 40 should arrange regular gynecological examinations and pelvic examinations every year, and high-risk groups can arrange regular examinations every six months to one year as early as 30 years old. At present, common methods for ovarian examination include: pelvic ultrasound and tumor marker CA125 examination, and zero-radiation magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination can also be added.
