Road accident deaths have dropped sharply in the UAE, study says

Study shows that road accident deaths have decreased in the UAE. The traffic control measures and traffic awareness measures implemented by the government have led to a reduction in accidents and deaths, the transport department said. The study indicates that road accidents have reduced by a third in 10 years.

There has also been a significant reduction in the number of people injured in road accidents. The study is considered to indicate the success of various measures taken by the government. This was revealed by the research of ‘Injury Prevention’, a publication of the British Medical Journal. The road safety campaign and activities were implemented as part of the ‘Vision 2021’ plan implemented by the UAE government.

Road safety laws were tightened in the UAE in 2007 and 2017. Over speeding, using mobile phones while driving, careless driving, not keeping enough distance between vehicles, sudden lane change and crossing red signal are considered as the main causes of accidents.
