Earlier this month, Larian Studios announced that Baldur’s Gate heroes Minsk and Jaheira would be returning in Baldur’s Gate 3. Last week, the studio informedthat Minska will be voiced by Matt Mercer, best known as the lead DM from Critical Role, and today confirmed that Tracey Wiles will take on the role of Jaheira.
Wiles herself announced this via her Twitter account, revealing that she started working on the role back in January 2022.
“We’re thrilled to have @TracyWiles play Jaheira in Baldur’s Gate 3!” Larian said in a retweet “We can’t wait for you to meet Jaheira in game and see what an amazing job she has done.”
Wiles, an English actress who has had numerous roles in film, television, stage and especially radio plays: Her Wikipedia page says she has acted in over 300 plays and comedies, which would seem to make her the perfect candidate for voicing video games.
In fact, prior to this game, she has featured in several video games, including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Spellforce 3, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, and most recently Total War: Warhammer 3.
As with Mercer as Minsk, Wiles is not the original voice of Jaheira. The last role of Heidi Shannon was played in 2001, so it is quite possible that she retired. Larian reported that Beamdog tried to hire Shannon for Siege of Dragonspear in 2016 but mightn’t find her). However, judging from what little we’ve heard regarding Wiles as Jaheira in the recent Game Awards trailer, she definitely fits the bill.
Today Larian also announced regarding looking for testers for Acts 2 and 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian said she’s looking for testers in Ghent, Quebec, Barcelona, Selangor, Dublin and Guildford, where all of her studios appear to be located.
