There is a possibility that Tesla announce the construction of a Gigafábrica in Nuevo León, with an initial investment of between 800 million and 1,000 million dollars.

The full capital injection of the electric car manufacturer -taking into account future expansions-, might reach the 10,000 million dollars.

The announcement would follow a visit from the CEO, Elon Musk to the state of Nuevo León, which borders Texas, in October of this year. A source told Archyde.com that Musk had met with Nuevo Leon Governor Samuel Garcia and US Ambassador to Mexico Ken Salazar.

The Mexican Gigafactoryplanned on the outskirts of the city of Monterrey, would begin by building components for current models from Teslaand possibly would build the brand a new model at a lower cost than other factories.

According to Archyde.com, if the announcement is not made this week, it might be made at the beginning of January 2023.

It is true that, the american automaker It has several suppliers in the state, so the company would be interested in settling in that region to be closer to its supply chain.

For what Tesla achieve its goal of increasing its global production to 20 million vehicles annually by the end of the decade, the company needs to have 12 Gigafactorieswhich means it must announce eight new ones within the next few years.
