Samsung unveils first 12nm DDR5 DRAM chip – PC Masters

12nm-DDR5-DRAM-Chip

The new DDR5 DRAM is expected to be used in a wide range of applications due to its remarkable performance and power savings and pass the product rating for AMD compatibility. The new DDR5 memory chips have been specially tested and optimized for AMD’s ‘Zen’ platforms.

Two 30 gigabyte UHD films can be processed at speeds of up to 7.2 gigabits per second, which takes just one second. The new memory is considered groundbreaking as it consumes up to 23% less power than previous DRAMs.

Using this state-of-the-art process technology, Samsung aims to expand its DRAM product range into a number of market categories and begin mass production of 12nm-class DRAM in 2023.
