Paioli (Kozhikode): The International Handicrafts Fair at Iringal Sargalaya, South India’s largest handicrafts fair, will begin on Thursday. The fair was successfully held for nine consecutive years till 2019, which was suspended for the last two years due to Covid. The organizers informed in the press conference that extensive preparations have been completed for the success of the fair this time.

At 4 pm on Thursday, Minister P.A. Mohammad Riaz will inaugurate. Kanath Jamila M.L. A. will preside. More than 500 artisans from 10 foreign countries and 26 states of India will participate in the fair. More than two lakh people are expected to attend the fair in 19 days. The fair will end on January 9.

The organizers also informed that a parking system has been prepared for up to 540 vehicles at the same time. The handicraft fair is organized under the leadership of the Central Tourism – Textiles – Handicrafts Department, State Tourism Department and Nabardin.

In the press conference, Paioli Municipality Chairman Vadakkail Shafiq, Councilor Ashraf Kottakal, Sargalaya CEO P.P. Bhaskaran, General Manager T.K. Rajesh, Hospitality Manager M.T. Suresh Babu, Coordinator K.K. Shivdasan also participated.
