Covid-19 in Lot-et-Garonne: the epidemic is still progressing, the use of vaccination insufficient

Epidemiological indicators are still on the rise, vaccination remains insufficient.

Virological indicators continue to progress in the Lot-et-Garonne department. The incidence rate is 738 in Lot-et-Garonne (while the average incidence is around 535 in France). “It is an upward trend that we are observing”, explains Joris Jonon, department director of the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Lot-et-Garonne. The positivity rate is 32% in our department in the middle of the week.

An increase was also recorded in hospital care. “There are 68 people who are currently being cared for in the various structures of the department”, he continues. Three were in intensive care.

An absence of barrier gestures

In this period of upsurge, barrier gestures remain too sporadic even if the mask is making its return to the city center a little more markedly.

Similarly, the Regional Health Agency of Nouvelle-Aquitaine encourages all people to have recourse to vaccination. “Vaccination is now open to all”, recalls the regional health authority inviting “the most fragile people to be vaccinated as a priority”.

Moreover, Lot-et-Garonne is lagging behind on vaccination. Among 60-79 year olds, only 29.7% received a booster dose. The lowest rate in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Only 13% of people aged 80 and over also received their booster injection. “There is no supply problem in the department”, specifies Joris Jonon who has not stopped repeating this message of “prevention” for several weeks concerning vaccination.

Seasonal flu in epidemiological phase

Regarding the seasonal flu, it also continues to progress. “The indicators concerning this pathology have been in the epidemiological phase since the beginning of the week”, reveals the director of the ARS of Lot-et-Garonne. Hospital requests concerning this virus remain “moderate” for the time being.

Finally, bronchiolitis is still active on the territory “with an occupancy rate of 80%” in the pediatric department.

During this period of end-of-year celebrations (with family gatherings), vigilance must be in place with the need to find barrier gestures.
