Arrested a man in his 40s suspected of repeating U-turns and reverse runs at Hanshin Expressway Osaka | NHK

On the Hanshin Expressway in Osaka, a passenger car repeated U-turns and reverse runs for nearly two hours. Although no accident occurred, the police arrested a driver in his 40s on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Law and are investigating the details.

According to the police, around 10:50 am on the 20th, there was a report that “the car is running backwards” near the Hirano entrance of the Hanshin Expressway in Hirano Ward, Osaka.

The police who received the report found a passenger car similar to the sighting information running in a normal direction in the vicinity and called for a stop, but the car did not respond and fled.

The car continued to run on the Hanshin Expressway while being pursued by police vehicles, making U-turns near multiple entrances and exits, and intermittently driving in the wrong direction.

Then, following going out to the general road from the Sakai exit in Sakai City, Osaka and repeatedly ignoring the traffic light, he returned to the Hanshin Expressway once more.

At around 0:40 pm, nearly two hours following the first call, the car finally stopped, and the police arrested a male driver in his 40s on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Law.

No accidents occurred and no one was injured while the car was driving dangerously on highways and public roads. Police are investigating the details.
