Kochi – An eight-year-old Bengali girl was brutalized by a relative and a friend. Manik Lal (37) from Bengal and his friend Akshay Karun (38) from Odisha, who sexually assaulted the girl, were arrested by the police. The arrest was made in a case registered by the Ernakulam South Police.
After her parents died, the girl lived with her maternal sister. When he was studying in the first class, the boy was sexually harassed by giving him a gift of chips and taking him aside. Manik Lal is the boy’s relative. He used to come drunk and abuse the child. A case was registered following receiving information regarding this.
The child was given detailed counseling and the statement was recorded with the help of translators. Both have been arrested under Juvenile Justice Act and POCSO sections.
