Manzanares: An artisan ceramic identifies the Social Services Center ‘Casa de Josito’

The municipal project that is carried out from the Popular University to mark different streets, squares and unique buildings in the old town of Manzanares with handcrafted ceramics continues. For a few days, a beautiful work of art made by Virginia Caro identifies the new social center located in the ‘Casa de Josito’.

After identifying with commemorative ceramics the reformed and renamed Plazuela de los Paradores and the house where the historic Manzanares Manifesto was drawn up in 1854, the Manzanares City Council has done the same with the building located on the corner of the Plaza de la Constitución with the Empedrada street, saved from ruin and converted into the headquarters of the municipal Social Services.

As a reminder of the last hotel establishment for which this historic building was known in the second half of the 20th century, this Municipal Social Services Center has been called ‘Casa de Josito’, according to the precious work created by the artist Virginia Caro. , professor of ceramics at the Popular University, in which she reproduces an old image of the building and its surroundings.

“It is what was missing to complete this singular work that has recovered the historical heritage in a building in which we always knew that it would be for social services,” declared Julián Nieva. The mayor of Manzanares, together with the team of professionals from the Municipal Social Services and representatives of the Popular University, highlighted the programs that are carried out from the different social centers with the aim of serving all those who need it. “It’s in our DNA not to leave anyone behind,” he declared.

For this reason, Julián Nieva thanked the work of the entire human team of the Social Services Area, with Prado Zúñiga at the head of the department. In the same way, he congratulated Virginia Caro for creating these “unique” works of art and highlighted the work of the Popular University and its councilor, Isabel Quintanilla, in this municipal commitment to beautify the city with the installation of identifying ceramics on the streets. and squares of the old town.
