Tournament record 16th attempt at the PNC Championship
The miracle didn’t happen: Tiger Woods and his son Charlie mightn’t celebrate their first title together in Orlando. Instead, he went to a group of islands in the South Pacific. Vijay Singh and his son Qass celebrated their first family title at the Ritz-Carlton GC in their 16th attempt. “It’s what we’ve always wanted,” said the now 32-year-old Qass following the win. Dad only had to add the words “since 16 years”. A visibly emotional moment for the duo. The former world number one and his son impressed throughout the tournament and started with seven (!) birdies in a row on Sunday. Along with four more birdies, the duo also managed an eagle on the back nine, paving the way to the title. Team Singh also set a record with two laps of 59. No team has ever completed two rounds in under 60 at the PNC Championship.

The duo wins with 26 under par ahead of Team Thomas and Team Daly, who share second place with -24 each.
Korda on par with Langer, Woods duo steals the show
Bernhard Langer was also a guest at the PNC Championship at the age of 65 and once once more proved that you can still play good golf as a grandfather. After a round of 60, he and his son Jason hit 63 at the start on Sunday. The duo thus shared fifth place. There you will also find one of the few women in the tournament: Nelly Korda. The 24-year-old competed with her father in Orlando and delivered well with two deep rounds in the 60s. Team Korda also ended up with an overall score of 21 under par.
However, the eyes of fans at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club on Sunday were focused on just one thing: Tiger and Charlie Woods’ red shirts. The duo drew almost all of the attention and while they didn’t succeed in the sport, it was sure to be a pleasure for any golf fan to see the 15-time major winner play with his son Charlie. After a 59 on Saturday, Team Woods mightn’t quite keep up the pace on day two. Although Tiger and Charlie posted seven birdies and an eagle on hole 5, they each suffered a bogey on the seventh and 17th holes. With a total of 65 shots, the father-son team returned from the course and ended up in shared eighth place in the overall ranking. “It was great being with Dad following he worked so hard to get here – school for me and the injury for him. To be out there with a great atmosphere and everyone that’s out there, That was great,” said 13-year-old Charlie following the round.

At the tournament in Florida, Woods allowed his son to participate in interviews for the first time and in addition to his enthusiastic comments regarding the tournament, the teenager also joked regarding his dad: “I felt like I already knew what he was capable of and yesterday he was like that well played like I haven’t played in a long time. And that shocked me a bit,” Charlie said while his father tried to stifle his laughter. The Woods duo closed the tournament as a shared eight, but the two should definitely be winners of the hearts.
