James Cameron’s comment on Matt Damon’s refusal to play Jake Sully in Sam Worthington came because Matt Damon expressed remorse on more than one occasion for not participating in Avatar.
James Cameron referred to Matt Damon’s remorse for refusing to participate in the Avatar movie, saying: He beat himself up for refusing to participate in the Avatar movie, but the role was represented by one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and he was able to get over it.
In 2019, Matt Damon revealed that when he was approached for the role of Jake Sully, which ultimately went for Sam Worthington, he was offered 10% of the film’s profits.
