Vikings conquer their division in the NFL with historic comeback

The Minnesota Vikings staged the biggest comeback in NFL history on Saturday to clinch the NFC North title with a 39-36 overtime victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

The Vikings erased a 33-0 deficit at halftime and earned the win on kicker Greg Joseph’s 40-yard field goal with two seconds left in overtime.

Minnesota scored 21 points in the fourth quarter when quarterback Kirk Cousins connected on three touchdown passes.

That Cousins performance included a 64-yard TD pass to Dalvin Cook that was followed by a two-point conversion pass to TJ Hockenson that tied the score at 36-36 with 2:15 left in regulation.

Each team punted on their first overtime possession, but the Vikings ultimately clinched the win on their second overtime chance.

Until this Saturday, the greatest comeback in NFL history had the signing of the Buffalo Bills who overturned a 32-point deficit to beat the Houston Oilers in a wild-card playoff game in January 1993.

In Cleveland, the local Browns defeated the Baltimore Ravens 13-3 with excellent offensive work from quarterback Deshauns Watson.

Watson threw a touchdown pass in his home debut for Cleveland, leading the Browns to a 13-3 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, who need injured quarterback Lamar Jackson to recover quickly.

In his third game following serving an 11-game NFL suspension for alleged sexual misconduct, Watson wasn’t spectacular. But he did enough to help the Browns (6-8) keep their playoff hopes alive while toppling the Ravens (9-5).

Lastly, the Buffalo Bills defeated the Miami Dolphins 32-29, thanks to quarterback Josh Allen, who completed 25 of 40 passes for 303 yards and four touchdowns.
