In an operation that included snipers and in which a criminal was shot in the leg, the Uruguayan police kidnapped this Saturday 400 kilos of drugs in a plane that was regarding to take off just 30 kilometers from the border with Argentina.
It all happened at dawn this Saturday in Salto, almost on the border with Concordia, in Entre Ríos. The Uruguayan Ministry of the Interior specified that it was 3:30 a.m. when “the General Directorate for the Suppression of Illegal Drug Trafficking and the Republican Guard They neutralized in Salto a plane loaded with narcotic substances“.
The same ministry reported that at that time the pilot and co-pilot of the plane in which the drugs were found were arrested. Both are of Bolivian origin. Two other people were later arrested.
The eastern outlet El País specified that the Uruguayan force stopped the plane when its occupants They tried to leave the drug in the vicinity of Termas del Arapey and then escape.
As soon as the aircraft landed, the DGRTID agents, who were hidden, waited for the two men to load a truck and snipers, according to protocol, fired at the engine of the plane. “A flake from the shot hit the leg of one of the men,” said the Uruguayan media.
After being arrested, the man who was shot in the leg was taken to the Salto hospital.
It was also reported that rapid police action led to the arrest of a third man, a Uruguayan national with a criminal record. The fourth detainee was on the followingnoon of this Saturday, a 27-year-old Uruguayan.
