Hypo Tirol goes into the league break undefeated

Table leader Hypo Tirol celebrated a comfortable 3-0 home win over TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien in the eleventh round of the men’s Austrian Volley League (AVL) on Saturday and is going into the Christmas break undefeated. The Winter King only lost three points. “Today was as expected. After the first set, it was actually already clear that we were going to win,” Tyrol head coach Stefan Chrtiansky said with satisfaction.

The surprise team of the season, TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg, also gave a convincing performance and beat bottom-placed Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt 3-0. Zadruga Aich/Dob lived up to his role as favorite at UVC Holding Graz and also won 3-0. Defending champion Raiffeisen Waldviertel achieved a 3-1 win in Weiz.

Top teams win in women’s AVL

In the women’s AVL, the top teams secured three points before the Christmas break. Champion and leader of the steel volleyball team ASKÖ Linz/Steg did not show any weaknesses at the tail light TSV Sparkasse Hartberg with 3:0. UVC Holding Graz ended the year two points behind Linz/Steg following beating TI ROWA-Moser Innsbruck 3-0.

Record champion Lower Austria Sokol/Post celebrated a 3-1 victory at the Kelag Wildcats Klagenfurt and remains third three points behind Graz. The Lower Austria derby between Bisamberg/Hollabrunn and Purgstall went into a tie-break. The hosts had won the first two sets before the thread broke. Ultimately, however, Bisamberg-Hollabrunn found its way back to success and defeated the newly promoted team 3:2.

The PSV Salzburg players can look forward to a conciliatory end of the year thanks to a 3-1 win at Trofaiach/Eisenerz. The seventh in the table drew level with the Styrians and now also has 14 points, but has one win less.
