$300,000 to regional organizations

The TELUS Foundation for a better future highlights a donation of $300,000 to nearly thirty community organizations in the Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie and Côte-Nord regions to support projects that help young people.

These amounts will allow children from underprivileged backgrounds to benefit from technologies, adapted health care and educational programs to learn, grow and flourish.

More than 600 youth projects

Since its creation in 2005, the TELUS Community Board in Rimouski donated more than $6 million to support more than 600 youth health and education projects. It is supported by the TELUS Foundation for a better future which helps more than 2 million young people across Canada each year.

Here are some examples of projects supported this year by the TELUS Community Board in Rimouski:

  • A day camp of the Association la Croisée which takes place during the summer, which allows young people with a physical or intellectual disability and/or autism spectrum disorder to enjoy adapted leisure experiences that meet their need to meet people.
  • Practical work experience for young people aged between 16 and 30 through the creation of a solidarity garden with Les Maraîchers du Cœur.
  • Activities for the whole family, organized by the Maison des Familles de Rimouski-Neigette, to ensure the development of the full potential and well-being of children.
  • Support for families from underprivileged backgrounds through the Paul-Hubert School Foundation.
  • A Pro-Jeune-Est project aimed at preventing school and social abandonment as well as supporting motivation by offering respite from the school environment.
  • Alternative therapies offered to young people in situations of great vulnerability, by the Accroche Coeur, Center for social pediatrics in the Gaspésie Sud community.
  • The promotion and defense of the rights of people with disabilities and their families, while promoting their social integration through the Association of People with Disabilities of Kamouraska-Est.
  • Programs from the Local des jeunes de Saint-Antonin, to enable them to develop their autonomy.
  • The deployment of the massage therapy service of the Eastern Quebec Cancer Association, for people affected by the disease, in Bas-Saint-Laurent, Côte-Nord, Gaspésie and Îles-de-la- Magdalene.
