Hyundai, the largest Asian car importer in Germany, is preparing its employees for the automotive future with a new training academy in Hösbach, Bavaria. In just nine months, a modern training center was built on the outskirts of the Rhine-Main region, where technical and commercial employees are trained.
“Until now,” says Jürgen Keller, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor Germany, “our technical training courses took place in Heilbronn, and the commercial employees received decentralized training in hotels.” So now Hösbach, and everything under one roof. Technicians and salespeople are trained on the requirements of the new technology in a total of eleven rooms on 2,400 square meters.
“The new technologies must be perfectly mastered by our partners in trade and service, which is why we are investing in our new Training Academy,” explained Wang Chul Shin, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Deutschland GmbH at the opening. “We chose Hösbach because of its good transport connections and because it is centrally located not far from our headquarters in Offenbach.”
Around 10,000 employees can be trained in the building every year in all areas – from handling high-voltage technology to correct dialog acceptance. Around ten million euros were invested in the system. At the same time, the online showroom, which has been set up for around two years, is moving to Hösbach. On 230 square meters, customers can find out regarding the new models at any time. To date, around 11,000 interested parties have used this service. In addition to the online showroom, a film studio was also created in which training videos for “distance learning” can be produced. 20 employees are employed in the Training Academy.
In addition to training, Hösbach is also the point of contact for dealers who are looking for a solution to a technical problem. “Our trainers then help, and if that’s not enough, our three Flying Docs are deployed on site for special problem cases,” explains Academy Director Thilo Klemm.
For the energy supply of the center and the 22 charging stations, Hyundai invested in a photovoltaic system with an area of 723 square meters, which can deliver around 150 kWp. In addition, the regional economy was heavily involved in the construction, which particularly pleases District Administrator Alexander Legler. Twelve companies from the region were involved in the construction, and the company “Oma Lore” is pleased regarding the order to take over the catering of the training participants and employees.
