The US Special Representative for Trade, Dilawar Syed, underlined, on Friday in Washington, the importance of cooperation between Morocco and Nigeria as part of their partnership aimed at ensuring the success of the energy transition of the African continent, noting that it is a partnership linking two major countries in this field.
“Coordination and cooperation in the field of energy transition is a good thing,” he said, on the sidelines of a meeting organized by the US-Nigeria Business Council on the role of Nigeria and Morocco in the framework for regional cooperation and the future of the energy sector in Africa. “We continue to encourage everyone to embrace renewable energy,” he added. “It’s good for the planet and the African continent,” Dilawar said.
The American official also highlighted the long-term potential offered by the field of renewable energies on the African continent, as well as the promising prospects offered by the development of hydrocarbons for Morocco.

The meeting, organized in partnership with the Moroccan Embassy in Washington, was an opportunity to highlight that the strong partnership between Morocco and Nigeria plays an important role in securing the world’s energy future.
During this meeting, which was attended by the Nigerian Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, as well as the Director General of the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM), Amina Benkhadra , the participants stressed that the partnership between the two countries is not limited to fostering the prosperity of the African continent, but also contributes to developing the future of energy at the regional and international levels.
