As the Ministry of Public Administration and Security issued heavy snow warnings in Incheon, Daejeon, Gwangju, Sejong, Chungnam, Jeonnam, and Jeonbuk regions this morning, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters was activated at 7:00 am and the crisis alert level was changed from ‘interest’ to ‘interest’. He said it was upgraded to ‘caution’.

According to the weather forecast, 5 to 15 cm of snow will fall in the west coast of Chungcheongnam-do, the western part of the Jeolla region, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo, and more than 20 cm of snow will fall in many places centered on the Jeju and Jeolla-seo coasts.

Lee Sang-min, head of company headquarters, instructed related ministries and local governments to take all-out measures by mobilizing all available resources to remove snow in vulnerable areas such as main roads, border/access roads, and icy sections, and immediately controlling access to dangerous areas if necessary.

In addition, we asked them to check the safety of the vulnerable, such as the homeless and the elderly living alone, by visiting or by phone, and to guide them to prior inspection and snow removal of structures vulnerable to snow, such as vinyl houses.

It was ordered to use disaster text messages and closed-caption broadcasting to inform the public of special weather warnings and action tips, and to continuously provide information on unexpected sections such as road traffic control.

Lee Sang-min, head of the Company Headquarters, said, “As there are concerns regarding skidding accidents due to road freezing due to low temperatures and a large amount of snow, please refrain from outdoor activities as much as possible and prepare safety equipment such as chains when going out.”
