A head-on collision left one dead and two seriously injured Thursday evening in Saint-Paul-de-Joliette, in Lanaudière.
The accident occurred on Route 343 around 6 p.m. between an SUV and a sedan, confirmed Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The driver of the SUV, a 49-year-old man, reportedly veered off course. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The 31-year-old driver of the sedan and his passenger were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The road was closed to motorists and a collision investigation officer was dispatched to the scene to determine the causes and circumstances of the accident. However, speed might have played a role, according to the SQ.
