400 people were arrested and a child was killed after the meeting between Morocco and France

Nearly 400 people were arrested in France and Belgium following the Morocco-France World Cup semi-final match in Qatar, according to police reports on Thursday.

A spokeswoman for the French police told German news agency dpa that 266 people had been arrested following violence across the country, including 167 in the French capital, Paris.

And the Belgian news agency “Belga” reported early that nearly 100 people were arrested in the Belgian capital, Brussels, following clashes took place following the match.

Belga said, citing police, that the detained fans face charges of disturbing public order, damaging two police cars and possession of prohibited fireworks.

The report indicated that security fencing was imposed on parts of the roads in the city center before the match.

Pictures taken on Wednesday night showed rubbish heaps being set on fire, as well as the deployment of a large number of police and riot police in the streets of Brussels.

Pictures published by the “Belga” agency also showed a number of citizens while they were cleaning the streets on Wednesday.

And the British newspaper “Daily Mail” reported that clashes took place between fans in the streets of Paris, Nice and Montpellier following the end of the match on Wednesday evening.

She added that a shocking video clip showed horrific moments when a boy was run over by a car on a street in Montpellier following the end of the semi-final match.
