The presidents of the Colombian professional soccer clubs and that of Dimayor met recently in order to analyze the dates for the start of the Betplay League 2023in addition to the format of the tournaments, the latter being something that has not yet been revealed.
However, details have already become known regarding the way the league will be run and they already warn that there will be notable changes in the realization of the first division tournament; a long tournament and the abolition of the average will be the news.

Well, the journalist Luis Arturo Henao announced that -unlike the format that has been used for more than two decades-, “a long tournament would be played and the average would end”.
Nevertheless, this measure would begin to apply in 2024 -according to the communicator-, which indicates that in 2023 they would have the last two tournaments with home runs and the subsequent final.
The consequences of the possible change of the Betplay League format
The first big change that there would be with this modification is that there would not be a champion every six months but on an annual basis; likewise, there would be no home runs or playoffsand rather The title would be awarded to the painting that scores the most points throughout the year.
Likewise, there will be modifications in the descent systemsince there will no longer be an accumulated of the last three seasons, defining the two descents by means of the average but rather the two teams with the worst performance of the year will go to B -making this fight fairer-.
