UK nurses on strike | World | Deshabhimani

London
Nurses in Britain with the largest protest in the history of the country. Over 100,000 members of the UK’s largest nurses’ union, the Royal College of Nursing, have gone on strike to demand better pay. Nurses who boycotted work organized picketing at various places. This is the biggest strike in the organization’s 106-year history. There will be a strike next Tuesday as well.

The striking nurses said that the country is facing the highest inflation in 42 years and that it is impossible to live without a salary increase. Adjusted for inflation, nurses’ salaries in the UK fell by an average of 1.2 per cent a year from 2010 to 2017. Wages have not been increased for three years. Nurses who are part of the National Health Service are participating in the two-day strike. With government cuts in health care, patient care is in dire straits.
