DUpon receipt of the alert bulletin from the General Directorate of Meteorology announcing heavy rains on December 14 and 15 in Casablanca, Nouaceur, Médiouna and Mohammedia, with an orange level of vigilance, Lydec put its teams on alert and deployed its means of intervention on the ground.
A crisis management unit has also been set up by the company, in order to coordinate with the authorities and manage the rainy episode as well as possible. The rains recorded from December 14 at 11:00 a.m. to December 15 at 8:00 a.m. were of high intensity and caused some overflows and stagnations of water in certain areas, due to the saturation of the liquid sewerage network, as well as at the points low or unequipped areas.
The average rainfall was 44.5 mm with totals reaching in 21 hours: 86.8 mm at Tamaris; 67mm to Hay Laymoune; 64 mm at Boulevard Mohammed VI- Dar Touzani; 58mm at Errahma; 57 mm at Boulevard de la Mecca; 56mm at Sidi Moumen and Ahl Loughlam; 54mm at Dar Bouazza; 53 mm at the Château de Tit Mellil; and 52 mm at Aïn Chock-Al Baraka.
More than 550 agents (executives and specialized intervention operators) are mobilized in the field, with more than 260 units (64 motor pumps, 23 hydrocleaners, 18 minicleaners, 12 vacuum cleaners, 124 vans and vans, 25 vehicles, etc.) deployed at the points of overflow identified, to relieve the sewerage network in charge and quickly restore traffic in certain roads that have been impacted by heavy rains.
Lydec also reinforced the capacity of its Customer Relations Center, which handled twice the number of calls on this occasion. While assuring customers and citizens of Greater Casablanca of their commitment to better manage the rainy season, Lydec teams continue their mobilization to deliver daily water and electricity distribution services, liquid sanitation and public lighting in the best conditions.
