Posted in Suns commentary during the Cactus’ recent game in New Orleans, Eddie Johnson accused the Pelicans of cheating. How ? By intensifying the whistles of the public in the room. We are clearly on the cutest cheating in history if this theory is confirmed, but here is something to add a little spice to the budding rivalry between the two franchises.
Just following passing first in the west by dethroning the Suns, the Pelicans received in New Orleans the fallen leaders of Arizona. Two consecutive matches between these new rivals, two wins for Zion Williamson and the Bayou guys in an electric atmosphere at the Smoothie King Center. The Louisiana public gave everything they had to encourage their Pelicans but also to whistle the leader of Phoenix: Chris Paul. The Point God, former star of New Orleans during the Hornets era, was indeed targeted by NOLA fans, who did not appreciate the behavior of CP3 facing his new enemy number 1 Jose Alvarado. But Eddie Johnson, a former Suns player in the late 1980s and more recently turned commentator for Phoenix, is to say the least skeptical of these boos.

“They boo, you can hear it, but they have a machine that sends back a kind of echo of the boos. Believe me: this crowd is not as loud as it looks. And yet they are loud, with all due respect. But they have a machine that works wonders. I tell you that by looking at the mouths: they say nothing and yet we still hear a lot of boos.
So, smoky theory or real track to study?
What is certain, and Eddie Johnson will not contradict us on this, is that the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans was rumbling throughout the game a few days ago. Without doubt even the biggest atmosphere since the start of the season, that is to say the intensity of this budding rivalry between the two franchises.
On our side, there is only to pray that the Suns and the Pelicans find themselves in the Playoffs.
