Disability: SBB is behind in adapting stations

Nearly 541 stations in Switzerland will not comply with the legal requirements for accessibility within the required deadlines, indicates a report by the Federal Office of Transport (OFT) published on Wednesday. A figure which has further increased compared to the latest conclusions of the OFT and which points to the difficulties of SBB in complying with the law on the elimination of inequalities affecting people with disabilities (LHand). According to this provision, SBB – like public transport companies on the road – are requested to make their vehicles as well as their platforms fully accessible for people with reduced mobility by the end of 2023.
