The Vice President of the Russian Society of Cardiology announced that some simple rules must be followed in order to get rid of belly fat permanently.
Yuri Belenkov, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that belly fat (visceral fat) accumulates in the depths of the body, between the organs in the abdominal cavity, according to Russia Today.
And when these fats are few, they are not noticed, but these fats are more dangerous than regular fats, because they increase the risk of developing many serious diseases, as published by Russia Today.
Belenkov added, BMI does not determine the percentage of this fat in the body and does not specify its location. Therefore, a person cannot self-determine this ratio, but only by CT scan or MRI scan. However, doctors do not seek to determine this percentage, but rather use the usual methods to estimate the percentage of total body fat.
He explained: “The waist circumference is measured at the level of the navel, and then the widest place in the hips is measured. If the ratio index between them is greater than one, then this means the presence of visceral fat in men. And it is higher than 0.85 in women.”

And he adds, excess visceral fat can lead to an increased risk of certain diseases such as atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.
Ways to get rid of visceral fat
Visceral fat accumulates in the same way as subcutaneous fat. Therefore, traditional methods can be used to reduce weight:
1- Adhering to a suitable diet, containing fruits and vegetables, 500 grams per day.
2- Exercising.
3- Changing the lifestyle to get rid of that fat.
