The last major monthly maintenance of 2022 begins. Microsoft releases new cumulative updates, some of which target its Windows operating system. We have security fixes and fixes for various issues.
This December 2022 Patch Tuesday offers bug fixes and security updates for many Microsoft products including client and server editions of its Windows operating system. All this little world is distributed via different channels. We have Windows Update and WSUS services or direct download links via the Microsoft Update Catalog site.
Note that this last maintenance of the year is accompanied by the end of support for Windows 10 21H1. Now the OS is left to itself. It will no longer be the target of updates to strengthen its security and fix its bugs.
As part of extended support Microsoft fixes a total of 15 vulnerabilities in Windows 7 of which 3 are critical flaws. They relate to PowerShell and the SSTP protocol. here is the detail
- CVE-2022-41076 -> flaw allowing remote code execution in PowerShell,
- CVE-2022-44676 et CVE-2022-44670 -> Flaws allowing remote code execution through Windows SSTP (Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol).
Windows 8.1 is affected by 20 vulnerabilities, 3 of which are considered critical. These are the same flaws as those encountered in Windows 7.
For their part, Windows 10 21H1, 21H2 and 22H2 are the target of 26 security patches, three of which target critical flaws, 22 major flaws and one a moderate failure. The three critical flaws are the same as those of Windows 7.
Finally we have the correction of 25 vulnerabilities in Windows 11 and Windows 11 22H2 of which 3 are critical and 21 important and 1 moderate. These are the same issues seen with Windows 7.
